Write Scripture Promises
Journaling is an essential part of healing. We can dump our emotions onto paper from the places trauma has taken hold. Scripture speaks to the heart when the past tries to destroy our peace.
“You desire truth in the innermost being and in the hidden places, you make me to know wisdom.” (Psalm 51:6)
The hidden places of our souls need truth. Writing God’s promises to counter lies brings healing to our inner soul.
A Journal Prompt to Relieve Negative Feelings
Write a negative thought you may have. Negative thought example: No one loves me or I don’t feel loved because… Then write a truth from the bible to counter the lie. Truth: “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17). Write about how this verse can begin to change your perspective of yourself. Do you believe the Lord is in your midst as you read this verse? How has the Lord rejoiced over you today with gladness? How has He quieted your soul with His love today? Ask God to open your eyes to see His love for you this week.
